UNFITNESS TO STAND TRIAL CONFERENCE. Perils and Portents of Unfitness to Stand Trial: International and Comparative Perspectives
This special two day event will examine issues around unfitness to stand trial.
The Conference, which is co-hosted by the Centre for Non-Adversarial Justice and the Australian and new Zealand Association of Psychiatry, Psychology and Law (ANZAPPL) is the first of its kind in New Zealand. It is dedicated to the examination of unfitness to stand trial from international and comparative perspectives. It aims to foster an inter-disciplinary and collegial environment in which to discuss and debate theoretical and practical concerns around unfitness to stand trial.
Unfitness to stand trial has become a significant and commonly litigated trial issue in many common law jurisdictions. It involves troubling questions of policy, culture and legislation. The conference will benefit from the wisdom and insights of leading local and international scholars and clinicians familiar with the range of issues around unfitness to plead.
Attendance at the conference will qualify for CPD points.
